eXPERIENCE
Marcella Robertson is a four-time Emmy award and regional Edward R. Murrow award winning anchor/reporter with more than a decade of experience in local news. She currently helps viewers start their Saturday and Sunday mornings as the weekend anchor at the CBS affiliate in Washington, D.C. Marcella reports for the morning newscast during the week.
Since joining WUSA9 in 2017, Marcella has been a valuable team member and held a number of different roles, including Traffic Anchor. Marcella has been at the forefront of reporting on local and national breaking news, presidential elections, the coronavirus pandemic, the protests and aftermath of the death of George Floyd, and a number of in-depth investigations.
Before returning home to the DMV, Marcella spent time reporting in Hampton Roads and Central Virginia.
BACKGROUND
Marcella was born in Germany, raised in Virginia and is fluent in German. She is a graduate of George Mason University and received her Master’s degree in Multimedia Journalism from Virginia Commonwealth University.
She later returned to campus at George Mason University to teach journalism for two years. Prior to that she taught aspiring journalists at Hampton University, and most recently she spent a semester teaching journalism at American University.
Marcella is passionate about issues impacting her community, and works to bring stories about diversity to the forefront.
Marcella lives in the DMV with her husband and daughter.
